The OHANA-SRAM Squash League returns for the second year running, once again with the backing of OHANA Communications, a member of technology solutions provider OMESTI Group. After a successful first outing, the League has attracted 40 teams this year from around the Klang Valley and Seremban with over 240 players of all ages.
OMESTI Group Executive Director Gerard Monteiro said, “OHANA’s mission is all about connecting people. We are therefore delighted to be continuing our support for this initiative which is bringing squash players of all ages together for the sport they love.”
Due to be played over a period of six months, the League will be more competitive this year with a number of national level players recruited to represent the teams. National No. 2 Ng Eain Yow and 14 other National players are already confirmed as participants.
“The League was established to give an opportunity to everyone to participate and enjoy the game of squash. It is open to all and the main objective is to get as many people as possible to choose squash as a healthy lifestyle sport, in line with our slogan ‘SQUASH FOR LIFE’”, said League Director Maj (R) S. Maniam.
The League is divided into four Open Divisions and one Veteran Division. Each Division is divided into 8 to 10 teams with each team being allowed to register six players with 3 players playing at any one time. Only one national player is allowed to play per tie. Games will be played from Monday to Friday commencing from 7.30pm as follows: Monday - Div1, Tuesday – Div2, Wednesday – Div3, Thursday – Div4, Friday – Veterans. The finals are scheduled for 20-23 June 2018 and the League will conclude with a Gala Dinner and prize-giving.
