TUNKU ZAIN Al-'ABIDIN IBNI TUANKU MUHRIZ

Educated at the Kuala Lumpur Alice Smith School, and then Marlborough College, Tunku Zain went on to obtain his MSc in Comparative Politics at the London School of Economics & Political Science. He then worked in the UK Houses of Parliament before moving to Washington DC to join the World Bank as a Public Sector Consultant. Upon returning to Malaysia, Tunku Zain worked at the United Nations Development Programme and the KRA Group before becoming a Research Fellow at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore.
In 2006, he co-founded the Malaysia Think Tank which evolved into Institute of Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) in 2010. He currently serves as Independent Non-Executive Director of Allianz Malaysia Berhad and Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad, as well as advisor / patron to numerous educational and cultural organisations.
Since 2008 he has maintained a newspaper column: initially ‘Abiding Times’ in The Sun, then ‘Roaming Beyond the Fence’ in the Star and Sin Chew, and now ‘Conservatively Speaking Freely’ in the Malay Mail, Borneo Post and Oriental Daily.
An Eisenhower Fellow, he has been selected for various leadership programmes by the governments of Australia, France and the European Union.He is a Trustee of Yayasan Chow Kit, Yayasan Munarah, Jeffrey Cheah Foundation and Genovasi Foundation and committee member of several societies and associations, including the Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia; and a Royal Fellow of the National University of Malaysia.
DATO’ AHMAD NAZIM BIN ABD RAHMAN

Dato’ Ahmad Nazim studied economics and public policy at Sciences Po in Paris and was a J William Fulbright Fellow at Georgetown University, Washington DC, where he obtained his master’s in public law. He read law for his first degree at International Islamic University Malaysia.
He is currently the Managing Director for Southeast Asia at Allied Investment Partners PJSC, an investment firm in Singapore, where he is responsible for expanding the firm’s investment and corporate finance advisory portfolio across the region. He has been engaged to advise government and corporate entities on policy initiatives and various aspects of fund-raising, mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining the firm, Nazim had a five-year stint as Chief Executive of Pelaburan MARA Berhad. In his role, he oversaw the investment and fund management business and spearheaded the formation and development of an Islamic financing subsidiary in partnership with the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD), the private sector arm of Islamic Development Bank. Having served at the intersection of private and public sectors, he was involved in the formulation of economic programmes under Eleventh Malaysia Plan (2016-2020) and the execution of various socio-economic policies.
Nazim has served on the Boards of financial institutions, government agencies and listed corporations. Other than Omesti Berhad, he is currently a Member of the Boards of the Energy Commission, National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), Regulus Advisors Pte Ltd and Future Capital Advisory Pte Ltd, both of which are fund management and advisory firms in Singapore. He previously sat on the Boards of National Bank of Abu Dhabi (M) Berhad and UDA Holdings Berhad.
A keen participant in public and international affairs, he heads the secretariat for Asia Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, a Paris-based NGO, and was an International Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a policy think-tank in Washington DC. He writes for Malaysian financial dailies and weekly magazines such as The Edge, Malaysian Reserve and Awani Review on various economic and policy issues.
